Welcome Back!

In: Recent News
Welcome Back to Dance Class!

Classes start Monday, September 14th!

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome new and returning families to Centreville Dance Academy. Classes will begin the week of September 14, 2009. If possible, try to be about 10 minutes early for your dancer’s class. The first week of classes at the studio will be busy. We want to make sure everyone gets to the appropriate class in a timely fashion.

Parking Lot Safety

For everyone's safety throughout the year and to keep traffic flowing in the parking lot, please pull into a parking spot when dropping off or picking-up your children. We realize that parking can be a challenge but the safety of your children is our first concern.

Come Prepared to Dance

The teachers are very excited to see all the dancers. They have asked that all dancers be prepared to start learning the first day of class. Please make sure your dancer has the proper shoes and dance attire, see our studio dress code for class requirements.

Buy Your Dance Supplies Early!

In order to make this day as smooth as possible and to avoid long waits in the store, please try to make your purchases prior to the first week of dance classes. If you are a returning student, please try on all shoes and leotards from last year to make sure they still fit.

Teacher and Room Assignments

Starting this year you can find your Dance Teacher & Classroom Assignments on-line:

Have Questions?

If you have any questions, please e-mail us or call the studio's office at 703-815-3125, and we will be happy to help you.

The First Day Of Dance Class

In: Recent News
First Day of Dance Class!

The First Day of Dance Class:

The first day of dance class is an exciting day for everyone. Parents, students, and teachers look forward to this day every year. Whether your child is 2 years old starting ballet for the first time or 16 years old trying out their first hip hop class, you want them to have a fun and be successful the first day of dance. We have put together some suggestions to ensure your child’s first day of dance is a memorable one.

  1. Be a little early:
If possible, try to be about 10 minutes early for your child’s first dance class. The first week of classes at your child’s studio will be busy. You will need to have time to park the car, put dance shoes on and locate your child’s classroom and teacher. Keep in mind, traffic is heavier during the school year than in the summer.
  2. Be ready to dance:
Your child should be prepared to jump right into learning on the first day of class. Students should be dressed in the appropriate dance clothes and shoes for class. If your child needs to change at the studio make sure you leave enough time for them to change and be on time for class. Most studios have a dress code posted on their website, if they don’t call the studio for information.
  3. Names on everything:
It is very easy for things to get left behind or put into the wrong dancer’s bag. Write your child’s name in any item that will be brought into the dance room. These items include shoes, skirts, dance bags and dance sweaters. Your dancer should have a dance bag if they are taking more than one type of dance. This way all of their shoes can be kept secure in one area.
  4. Leave the extras at home:
Items such as toys and jewelry should be left at home. Toys can be a distraction for younger students. If they know they have toys in their bags, they may want to play with them during class. Items such as jewelry and cell phones are expensive; unless your dancer needs these items, they are best left at home.
  5. Hair nice and neat:
Your dancer’s hair should be pulled back away from their face. Check with your child’s studio to see if they require a bun or if a ponytail will do. Dancers with short hair should pull the front portion of the hair back away from the face.
  6. Special needs dancers:
If your child has any special medical conditions or learning disabilities make sure to communicate this to the teacher prior to the first day. This will make for a better experience for your child and allow the teacher to care for your child appropriately during class.
  7. Have fun:
Your dancer’s first day at class should be fun and memorable. Enjoy watching them learn and grow through the art of dance.
