FAQs
What if I sign up my child for classes, and she doesn't like it?
All you need to do is speak to someone in the office and let her know that you want to drop the class. The only thing that is non-refundable is your $20 registration fee. We will be happy to refund any unused tuition you have paid, starting from the day you personally notify the office that you would like to withdraw your child.
Do you teach ballet technique to younger students?
We believe that true ballet technique should not be taught until students reach the age of at least 7. Before that, we introduce pre-ballet concepts and basic ballet terminology, but the emphasis is on locomotion skills and learning to love dance, not on learning technique.
Can my 24-month-old try your creative dance program?
Students must be 2 ½ by the start date of the session in which they are enrolling.
My 4-year-old has never taken dance class before, but she dances at home all the time. Can she skip right to Combo III?
From our experience, it is not to a student's benefit to skip CDA's normal progression and take class with older students. We have found that keeping them with peers of their own age and ability is much healthier for their physical and social development. So, students must enroll in the classes for which they qualify, and they may not skip ahead.
Does my child need to wear dance clothes and bring all her dance shoes to her first class?
Absolutely. We like to jump right in and get started.
Does my child have to participate in the end-of-year recital?
Students are welcome to participate in class even if they cannot be in the recital. However, we find that many students are disappointed in not getting a costume and not being able to perform with their friends, so we encourage all families to try their best to work the recital into their schedules. Many students who are very shy at the start of the year become very comfortable with dancing by June and are happy to perform their dance on stage at the recital.
Can I wait until the week before classes start and still enroll my child?
It's doubtful. Our classes are very popular, and they fill up very quickly - especially for ages 5 through 11. Many of the popular times fill up by the end of the first registration day. It's worth calling us to check to see what we have available, but your best bet is to come the morning of the first registration date for which you qualify. We do keep a waiting list through the first two months of classes, and that is always an option if there is no space available when you call.
